Nathaniel T. Lesser This is simply brilliant music from an incredibly talented individual who I think very likely sang every harmony and played every instrument on this album! There is a freeness and happiness to this music that makes you feel the joy of existence! Day’s Sgt. Pepper and only the first solo record out of the gate! This is the sound of a musician at the top of their craft. I am very proud of Day and this creation- a magnificent, pop opus! Favorite track: Let’s Be Lonely.

F Natural 02:19
“Natural is true,” they say. “Natural is good Natural’s how everybody should be Mother Nature knows just how to bloom and grow Learn to love what nature has in store Guided by what came before” But nature doesn’t care if you’re OK Whether you get out of bed and face the day It’s natural to be dying of disease Sometimes what’s natural isn’t always for the best. I really have to disagree! Often times you can’t get your medicine from plants It doesn’t mean the medicine can’t help you Nature’s not your mom; the gods are dead and gone Silly humans sometimes get things right Like music and electric lights Your body’s there for you, not a temple or taboo Go ahead and change the things you want to They may say it’s a facade, or that you are playing god You’ll live inside their heads and pay no rent But nature’s just an accident!

Easy 02:16
Easy humming You’ve got a tune for every night and day Voice at the ready when you work out what you’re gonna say You hear the drumming The bass anticipating every bar Some slippery figures ringing out on a lead guitar It feels good when things come easy, like a breezy day in the yard Does it feel better when the things you really want come hard? Lazy strumming You’re feeling glum, ‘cause the words won’t come — your mind feels numb Thoughts scattershot; no cookies, only crumbs Ringing your own doorbell But there’s no answer from the sonneteer No help is coming, so you’ve just gotta persevere It feels good when things come easy, but sometimes you’ve got to push on through Whether there’s a happy ending might be up to you Or maybe that is just untrue Depending on your point of view [instrumental] It feels good when things come easy, like a breezy day in the yard Does it feel better when the things you really want come It might feel better when the things you really need come Feels even better when the things you really want come hard

Two-hundred and fifty reasons for speaking your mind You’ve felt it in every season that you have left behind You wanna protect their feelings, you wanna be kind They’re frazzled enough just making it through the daily grind Some people are single-minded, but you end up resigned Keep quiet and play the character that you were assigned Each one of those other people deserves to be free Don’t need to be anybody that they don’t wanna be And if their foundations crumble, you’d search the debris When they say that they’re a burden, you’re there to disagree But maybe you’ll make some changes, too, eventually If nobody minds or if there’s no other path you see If you run Where could you even go? Nobody wants to know, no! Baby, if you’re bound to seem a little uncouth, Would you still jump into the fountain of truth? You feel like a spectacle for harsh, judgmental eyes But everyone else has got it all wrong, and you’re alive If you run Where could you even go? Nobody wants to know, no! Baby, if you’re bound to seem a little uncouth, Would you still jump into the fountain of truth?

When I was young, some older people seemed so cruel The games they played had such infuriating rules But the youth would make things better when we came of age I overestimated rage Don’t get me wrong, our rights have overall increased But growing, too, has been a retrogressive beast And the monster’s made of ordinary folks who long For those old rules that did us wrong I hear their praise for the bad old days They long to be free of you and me while the world decays Their perfect future’s a homogenous display It only works if the exceptions go away So if being who you are is likely to disrupt Get ready to be rounded up I hear their praise for the bad old days They long to be free of you and me while the world decays I’m with you and I hope that you’re with me Small fish in need of solidarity The fash are out there getting jacked I hope some of my allies are inclined to punch back! They say their enemies are weak, but also strong They say it’s obvious which people should belong And the rest of us can serve them if we just behave And thank them for the crumbs they gave But if being who you are is likely to disrupt Get ready to be rounded up We hear their praise for the bad old days They long to be free of you and me while the world decays We hear their praise for the bad old days ‘Cause you and me are accursed anomalies to be erased

We heard all about Sabrina’s latest crush And we took a walk with Quinn and Lou Had tea with my sister, then we played a game of twister I wish I could be alone with you It was nice to catch up with Kate and Jennifer And talk about last week’s book review But being alone is how I build up all my power Can we go home together now? It’s getting late, so come on, let’s be lonely Oh I can’t wait, so come on, let’s be lonely It’s alright, our friends are great; but tonight, let’s hibernate Tomorrow we’ll be sleeping in, the outside world keeps creeping in You’re the glow of a lantern light; pull me close, like a moth at night I’m always overdue to spend some lonely time with you It’s good to get out in solidarity It’s lovely to savor solitude But I will forever choose to be alone together We speak our own language now It’s getting late, so come on, let’s be lonely Oh I can’t wait, so come on, let’s be lonely It’s alright, our friends are great; but tonight, let’s hibernate You’re the glow; pull me close Tonight we’re both free, so let’s be lonely

Brain Drain 02:17
My brain has a faulty drain Doesn’t seem to know which stuff to retain When? Where? I am unprepared! Please don’t think it means that I don’t really care Beep, ring! Guess I’ve got to do a thing. Better do it quick or my focus will swing (swing) My mind hates to wait in line But when I’m lost in time it works just fine Just a couple minutes ‘til I’m through Sorry, didn’t set a timer; it’s been 22 already What was it that I was gonna do? Glad I’m not a social climber; I’d tumble! My brain has a faulty drain Doesn’t seem to know which thoughts are germane If I could drop some data weight Would I have the space to keep things straight? When my curiosity is piqued I can hold my breath for hours, diving super deep into it What about if I just make one tweak? Then I make another, and another, always staying fluid Just a couple minutes ‘til I’m through (Spend my days) Sorry, didn’t set a timer; it’s been 22 already (Saying sorry, feeling starry) What was it that I was gonna do? (Focus strays) Glad I’m not a social climber; I’d tumble! (On safari) My brain has a faulty drain Doesn’t seem to know which stuff to retain When I was a little child Everybody thought that my memory was wild No chance I’d remember any plans, but I Learned the order of the Presidents from a trash can My mind has trouble keeping time But swimming in the brine it works just fine!

Make That Go 02:40
Feeling out of my comfort zone Always looking for another reason to postpone Get your habits away from me, yeah, You know I’ve got my own Falling into a fantasy, but Wake up to a sad trombone Catch and tear, patch and sew Can’t imagine how I’m ever gonna make that go Sick of wishing I’d fade away, now I wanna let it glow Inhibition’s begun to fray and It’s time to make that go Hey, I would agree that I am my own worst enemy Got me wow, got me whoa They say it’s better just to fake it ‘til you make that go I don’t wanna pretend that I’m Not afraid to grow But I’m ready to take my time, And push through the vertigo Sick of wishing I’d fade away It’s time to make that go! Hey, I would agree that I am my own worst enemy Hey, I would agree that I am my own worst enemy Free… fall, free for All… ways, yeah, and Hey, I would agree that I am my own worst enemy Free… fall, free for All… ways, yeah, and Hey

Lady Beetle 03:53
I saw a lady beetle fly High! From my left hand up to the sky Bye bye! Guess it wasn’t scared of a hairless little bear like I But why? Could it even tell if I’m a rock or if I’m alive? Did it even try? I dreamed a beetle sang to me Wings buzzing like a bee Elytra played the harmony Wandering into C Shiny little beetles eating aphids on the cherry tree They’ve answered our silent plea Little red dots with little black spots I see So twee and free Lady beetles fly from the cabbage to the cucumber vine Looking for some little juicy green creepy-crawlers Yeah, they look cute on a preschooler’s boots But they’re vicious little predators among the collards A lady beetle on my shoe Damp from the morning dew Six spots and one that splits in two Ooh, what a lovely view Shiny little beetle took a moment to relax, then flew Into the blue People say it’s lucky but I really don’t believe that’s true Do you? Lady beetles fly from the cabbage to the cucumber vine Looking for some little juicy green creepy-crawlers Yeah, they look cute on a preschooler’s boots But they’re vicious little predators among the collards Beetle fly up to the sky Has no fear of me, but I don’t know why Making people smile with that ladybug style But it’s killing all the while, eating 50 aphids every day! ‘Til some hungry crow eats at the ladybug cafe I saw a lady beetle fly High!

Time it is my enemy, it only leads one place Wish I could get off this ride and melt into your face Sometimes I really try to pack things in But then I get the feeling I can’t win, and I’m frozen I know action does it, but some action has no use Goals have taught me what it’s like to chase a wild goose Sometimes I just pretend that time is fake ‘Cause here and now is all that I can make any sense of On hold, in waiting mode Future plans make present tense erode Thoughts cast into the past Push aside what’s real with something old Time time time time time, you are my enemy for sure Watch my body crumble and then see me to the door Maybe the problem isn’t time, per se Just that I can only feel it move one way with my senses On hold, in waiting mode Future plans make present tense erode Thoughts cast into the past Shading out what’s real with something old Try to do something new. Not everything’s been done already! (Everything’s been done) Try to see who we can be. Not in our final forms already! (We are who we are) Try to go where we’ll outgrow the ways we’ve come up short already (We’re bound to come up short) Can’t wait until another day, because there’s only ever one long day (There is no other day)

Every night, when I was just five, I would fight to keep conscious thoughts alive As I drifted toward the sea of dreams Kept my focus on the search for seams Where’s the line that we somehow cross? At the time, can we feel the loss Of our senses as we sink into Our own inside world that’s always new Two lives that hit pause and play One at night, another one in the day When I wake, why can’t I just recall What’s it’s like the moment I finally fall Asleep? These days I comprehend There’s no switch to signal the start or the end And the space that’s in between the pair Is a place where magic feels almost really there As I start to doze There’s a light I see though my eyes are closed It may pulse or it might flicker fast And illuminate a world so vast Two lives that hit pause and play One at night, another one in the day When I wake, why can’t I just recall What’s it’s like the moment I finally fall Asleep? Asleep. Feel at home on a movie set Share a life with people I’ve never met And it’s different almost every time While the waking world is well-defined Two lives that hit pause and play One at night, another one in the day When I wake, why can’t I just recall What’s it’s like the moment I finally fall Asleep? These days I comprehend There’s no switch to signal the start or the end And the space that’s in between the pair Is a place where magic feels almost really there
